"But when the roads were wet, and even slippier, the M2 was still dependable and controllable. No matter what the conditions, the BMW remained agile and fun. " Car Throttle with Alex and the bunch are really good reviewers, and their opinion is to be respected, though I too disagree that it's not worth the premium. Just look under the car and compare it to the M235i and still say it's not worth it? |

I've driven an M2, and a buddy's loaded M235i which, out the door, was almost the same money. My sense is that the harder you drive these cars, the more obvious the differences become.
To me, it is not even a close question at any number under 10 grand. If you are financing and not leasing, at today's rates the payments shouldn't be miles apart anyway. And with all due respect to those who disagree, even if I hadn't taken those drives I'd take the opinions of those who have flogged both cars on the track and the road over theirs. For example, Sam for Bimmerpost really liked the M235i. But he was quite clear in his extended video review that the M2 was a different animal, and he loved it. |

I could understand you not seeing a difference if you went on a short drive and kept it under 35 MPH, without any turns or bends. The 235, respectfully, isn't going to be close in terms of how each steers, feels, stops, etc. And as mentioned above, if you are looking at the .2 second difference in the 0-60 time, you might be missing the entire point of the M2.
