If this pricing is legit, the only way the m235i coupe might make sense is if you can do a discounted, lightly-optioned ED car for around $40k. Otherwise, there's just not enough room between the two to NOT go with the m2... especially when the m2 is more likely to retain its value. |

So now that we are narrowing in on the price and launch. What's the chance of 1/M prices dropping now or is that limited edition gonna keep em high?
Currently only 3/21 listings for the 1/M on autotrader are below that $51K lol. The cheapest is listed at $47K with 49K miles on it. |

The 1M will adjust into the low $40's/high $30's in the next couple of years. In the much longer term its resale value will undoubtedly rise again because of its limited production collectibility status. |

Based on the rumored 54k euro german price I was expecting this, given the history of price deltas. Keeping it under $56k WITH DCT will be one key to my decision.
The next two keys will be: A. If I can get one for Euro Delivery (#1 at one dealer, #2 at another but #1 says no go on ED) in the June/July timeframe. B. If it leases well enough to be better month to month vs a F80 with DCT. If either of those are a no, I may have to pull the trigger on something else, since kids are likely on the way in the next 24 months. |

Was my dream spot on or what? This is just great if it's true.

I wished it was that price over here in the Uk when it comes out. That equates to around £33k. No chance I'd say more like £43k

Adem: fair play to you for predicting the MSRP. Gotta give credit where credit is due.
Now just need to see what the standard feature list looks like...

Well, no one is going to argue against a low price. That said, as was mentioned above, it is hard to imagine anyone ordering a M235/240i with a base price of $45K...The next few days should be interesting.

Agreed. I was doing a bit of reading to see any differentiators or a reason to not spend the additional cash for the M2 but I couldn't find any. I guess if people decide to go for the M2 over the M235i, it's better for BMW but Mercedes indirectly screwed BMW here. The CLA only has the CLA250 and and CLA45, obviously the difference is huge both mechanically and price (15k difference?). The 2-Series has 228i, M235i and now M2 with the price within the same range.

Oh... my... God.
I expected a loaded DCT to be around 59k, and prepping myself for it. If this is true, I'll be happier than a pig in shit.
