I decided to remove the 1 and 8 from the 128 badge, and replace it with an M. Looking forward to more info, and a hearty upgrade.

Potentially an M4, depends on how it drives and looks...and the value.

Pending lease prices, she'll be an addition, keeping my VW TDI as DD and winter car. This is my return to the sports car since the kids were born. Wife's X1 lease is up around the same time we'll see the M2...so I have more decisions to make. New X1, X3, X5 or convince her wagons are cool and go 328d touring. Either way, good leverage for negotiations.

I know it'll have a different character but that's not necessarily a bad thing, actually something I look forward to. I'm just hoping for a lateral or better move in the fun factor.

What car are you guys looking to replace or is the M2 going to be an addition?
You'll be back in an E9x!
I'm not replacing anything, I'm adding to these 2 (and a beater 4Runner):

The way I see it, they will be all quite different from each other. The M2 will be the first and probably the last car I buy new. Next step would be a Porsche in the very very distant future. Would have loved a Cayman of some kind, but they are out of my budget.
Beautiful color on that e46!!! I wish mine were that perfect and clean
That's an E36 and an E92 in the picture.

It would be replacing my BMW 330d which now has 295,000 kms on it - well I'll actually keep tjhe 330d for using in crap weather and for transporting my doggy and leaving in the airport parking. It'll sit alongside my bright yellow Lotus Elise SC. I want an M2 because I feel that it'll soon be the last chance to own a decent muscle car before the constantly increasing Euro-legislation dooms us all to drive characterless eco-cars. Plus, I'm 60 years old and wanna have a last spin before I end up aimlessly wandering around the garden with a pair of secateurs in my hand, trying to puzzle out whatever it was that I was supposed to be doing today. The M2 will end up eventually getting replaced by a two-wheeled shopping trolley which I shall pull behind me as I stagger to the local shop, drooling with a vacant look on my face and wondering whether to spend my weekly pension on a tin of beans or some porridge - but maybe not the latter as it'll cause my false teeth to unstick and fall to the pavement and bite some unsuspecting soul.

Thoughtful, comprehensive, illuminating, entertaining and funny. In spite of all that, your response leaves me, more or less, speechless (a good thing). In any case, thanks for the comment.

Going to trade my Acura TL SH-AWD towards it. I'll lift the E46, put a rust module on it, winter rubber and make it the winter sled.

I managed to sell an E30 M3..... and really haven't looked back... (although it was and remains an awesome machine)..

IFF I decide to get an M2... I couldn't afford to own a home.. and be a parent... so I would have to sell my 1M.
I would be looking for The same fun factor as my 1M.. with a fresh warranty and a second hit off the Euro Delivery Crack pipe........

If BMW would make an M2 Gran Coupe... the 1M would already be up for sale.

If and when the M2 comes out in a cab version, I may have to let my 228 go.

I really wish I can keep my 2013 128i and still be able to buy the M2, but we will see if that can happen for me by 2018.

I doubt that will ever happen. Nor should it ever happen.

Why do people make such comments without even a casual glance at the history of the marque ?

Let's check your work..

E30 M3 vert - YES (Europe only)
E36 M3 vert - YES
E46 M3 vert - YES
E90 M3 hardtop vert - YES
F80 M3 hardtop vert -YES
E82 1M - NO

http://www.carscoops.com/2015/02/thi...st-e30-m3.html

yeah...... I would bet with a full production cycle... there's at least a 50/50 chance will be an M2 vert

On second year of its release, if it's worth the extra coin it'll place my 2015 m235i.

Easy, I said when and if they come, I MAY have to...have no idea if I will even like it, but if it follows suite, it should be a great car! The only other car in this class that I would consider would be the Porsche, and they are too hard to get in and out of on a daily basis for me. I can't think of anything else in this class that would appeal to me...spent two years looking.
