Yes, E30 M3 7300rpm rev limiter not sounds high to today standards, but compared to another cars on this era, like Ferrari 348 7500rpm. M3 has only 3% lower redline. Nowadays 458 has limiter in 9000rpm. So if M2 wants to be as hooligan car as e30 M3 it needs redline near 8500rpm, then it sound good even a four-pot.

I used to care as i love the CaymanS and BoxsterS...But sadly at 6'4" i can not fit ....hard to believe my 91 Miata has more room in it...

Since it snot a limited production, it will most certainly have both a manual and a DCT transmission. They will lose sales if only a manual in a high volume production car like this.

me too !!!!!!!!! no clutch pedal no sale ....at 50g+ for any car in my garage will have a beautiful stick shift or will buy something that does.

Disappointed in the new M3/4 engine, S55, and what appears to be the engine selection, N55, in the M2.
In my opinion: S55 = 335 M Sport + N55 = 2M S65 turbo = M3/4 S55 = M2 Will keep E92 M3. If new M2 has an S55 will probably buy, otherwise will look to Porsche, VW and Mini for a smaller performance coupe. |

Couldn't agree more red. Anyone who thinks the M2 should be 6MT only doesn't understand the current marketplace or marketing. Approximately only 20% of buyers take up the manual option. BMW aren't dills.
Also, the funny thing about this is people want the M2 because of its performance, and then they want the slower option of the manual. If they were truly performance drivers there is only one gearbox to use, the M-DCT. I'm happy for there to be a manual option for those so inclined, but no way will it be the only option. |
