My point was that they are two totally different price points and one won't really affect the other much. Its kind of economics 101.

But if you need to believe someone else will suffer in order to enjoy your (speculative) CS, go for it.

Agree totally.. and it's not just economics 101 ... also ///Marketing 101..

@M3 Number 86

it's EXACTLY how for example.. LG can sell a 65" OLED TV that is the same base television at three different price points

LG OLED W7P ($7999) , G7P ($6999) and E7P ($5499) ..

http://www.lg.com/us/oled-tvs?&cmpid...gEHg&gclsrc=ds

the only differences in the televisions are Smart features and picture on glass technology yet the W7P is more than 50% more than the E7P

Want a real world Car example ?? - See " Porsche Cayman "

in the previous lineup.. the Cayman began at 49K.. and went up to 84K for the Cayman GT4... vehicles clearly aimed at different buyers..

+1 for LG E7P reference in a Bimmer thread. That picture is so purdy and on my upcoming shopping list!!

Do you guys think that the M2 CS would most likely have rear seats, or it'd come with a cage? I'm in the market for an M2 right now, and this rumour has really gotten me thinking maybe I should wait a year... I actually want the rear seats. Need them for the kids.

The M2 CS will have rear seats for sure, it is NOT the GTS.

While I could be wrong.. the only models that I am aware of that have an actual roll cage/half cage in them are GTS models.. (with the exception of the M253i racing which is not an ordinary customer car)

CS should have full back seats.

I think the CS will come with back seats and GTS (if it happens) will come with a cage. I also think that people shouldn't worry about M2 GTS being better than M4 GTS. It's a newer model. It should better be. The next M4 GTS would likely smoke the current M2 GTS. Imagine that..... progress.

Since speaking of TVs. I'm sure this year's 7 series Samsung is better than the 8 series from 3 years ago. Or at least equal.

Problem is getting a M2 GTS... You need to get yourself a M2 CS, else you are not on the list for a GTS.

I will just get both following the M2. Only thing is waiting... Another 1.5 years in my current M2. I wonder what to do in the meantime. I think I will just by saving for the other two.

I thought about getting a Giulia QV in the meantime, but I am not sure.

Sorry but that's not how it works I expect the next m4gts to be better than current but not the m2gts to better than current m4gts - they are different models. Porsche is the king (but Understands model differences) at this - if BMW doesn't get this concept they better be prepared to have some ticked off m4gts owners and lose a customer base.

Probably thinking of the voucher program BMW used for many of the M4 GTS allocations. Certainly those who got vouchers were selected based on past purchases and/or dealership recommendations.

With that said, there were still plenty of M4 GTS' sent to dealerships outside of the voucher program. I imagine it would be the same for the M2 GTS. Bottom line - you probably should have a good idea very soon if you'd like to get one or not and have that connection ready to go at your dealership of choice.

Sounds like we need a new thread for people to breathlessly speculate and await the M2 GTS... and disdain those getting a 'vanilla M2 CS'.

Back in 2015, Porsche US (PCNA) offered a right of first refusal to all those on the Porsche 918 Spyder VIP 'early access' program, allowing these privilege customers to secure a Cayman GT4 allocation ahead of the normal 'line' ("It is my pleasure to offer you, per your 918 Spyder VIP privileges, the opportunity to be among the first to acquire the new Cayman GT4."). PCNA offered them one week to decide and allocated the remaining US-allocated expected production to US dealers (source: https://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-...l#post12016567).

Well, this is great news. I've had a deposit down on an M2 CSL/GTS variant since the middle of last year. Hopefully BMW doesn't try to pull the same "exclusive" sales bs they did with the M4 GTS.

I was offered a M4GTS on 2 occasions from my dealer - passed, and I do not own an M3/4. I am #1 on list for M2GTS and have been for quite some time. Depending on specs, performance, price and production #s, I will take it. This generation of M3/4 has just never excited me.

I was offered one recently unsolicited as well.

I'm debating between m2 and m2 cs for a weekend / fair weather car.

Hopefully we learn more about the cs soon.

I looked at an m2 this weekend and was much more impressed with both the interior and exterior in person than in pics. Has a special car vibe in the black and the Long Beach blue in person.

Are we really talking about an M2 like it's a 1M? Lol.

I don't think bigger brakes and a completely different engine is only marketing in this case.

Even maclarens are subject to depreciation. What's going to happen to 991gt3 once the .2 comes in a manual? We've yet to see but I suspect they aren't going to hold as well. Same with the 997.2 they'll be affected with the new manual coming out.

GTS, bleh...

I want a M2 equivalent of the e36 M3 LTW. Heavily modified to be light and awesome on the track, however still usable, with back seats. No roll cage silliness, no one is going to be racing these things, just driving to track days and on the weekends. The GTS is a stupid car for people that like numbers. The LTW was for driving enthusiasts; you know, us.

Good point. I didn't think about it but have looked into the M4CS reviews and they don't seem worth it, considering M put a 45% increase in price.

http://www.autoblog.com/2016/04/07/2...w-m4-cs-spain/

If you apply that same logic the M2CS should come in around $74,000.

A base M2 with carbon ceramic brake upgrade, performance exhaust and a tune would still come in less and be more car than my skills could cope with

Do not confuse the Spanish "M4 CS" with the forthcoming M4 CS.

The Spanish 2016 "M4 CS" (only 60 cars) stands for "M4 Competition Sport": comparable to the M4 ZCP though also comes stock with carbon ceramic brakes, a carbon wing on the back and various other carbon-fiber elements.
