@akkando that definitely seems like a lost cause at this point unfortunately. I would've loved to get one myself. I don't know why but I love the wagons with a passion, especially once you're driving one around town. They feel great.
On top of it all they left us with a soft top convertible… it doesn't get any worse

Maybe I'm biased but my experience with Lotus so far has been positive. Put my initial deposit back in November 2021, and they're honoring MSRP pricing (got it in writing). The only thing is I have to wait until end of 2023 for delivery. Last edited by MMMBRAP; 04-24-2022 at 04:21 PM.. |

Why would I at least not consider it? It will be the very last ICE 6MT M ever makes. Pretty much no one on this forum has seen, sit in yet alone driven one.
At the bare minimum, I'm going to wait for the unveil in just under a year before I make up my mind (better yet, I'd like to see in person). I'm very much leaning towards keeping the F87C, but the G87 certainly has a shot. Imagine if Individual paint, carbon buckets and carbon roof can be had on this car along with a 6MT. That is a very compelling case to me, especially since I really enjoy the G80's handing. Cars that I enjoy are getting rarer and rarer to find. In 10 years, I think there will only be a handful of new 6MT cars left. I think the G87 is going to be a very special car. Whether I prefer it to my F87C is another story. Quote:

Let's set aside looks for now as it isn't unveiled yet. I'm not optimistic on the design but I'll hold judgment until I see it.
I'm more concerned about the low end on the s58. It is absolutely a beast and it should be respected and appreciated. However, I've heard numerous people complain about power under 5k. Will the new chassis have more rear end grip on rwd models? No doubt. Will an awd g87 eat my 500+ whp m2c from a dig to any speed or distance? Absolutely. But I'm not dragging my car. I live below 5k a lot on twisties and around town. And the tune unlocked the top end that they neutered. I am fearful that an s58 will make it a better daily and better to 60/quarter mile numbers car but sacrificing the more nimble, punchy character the m2 is known for. If the s58 feels more naturally aspirated and loves to be rung out, I'd rather let the market cool and add an e90 m3 to the garage.

I'm on the list at my local dealership for an M4 CSL - if for some reason that doesn't pan out then I will likely pick up a G87 just to see what the new generation is all about. While I tend to favor the past couple of generations still can't overlook the performance that each new gen possesses.

the g87 will drive amazing, the question will be how it looks. But will it remain ugly or will it grow on people (like the m3 has done to me, specially after I drove it). I doubt I will like the g87 more than the f87 because they really nailed the f87 but I actually like the g80 better than the f80 now but then again the f80 was never my thing. If I do get a g87 will be an LCI

I’m undecided and won’t be decided until the entire car is revealed and more info is available around the driving dynamics. I’m a little agnostic at this point towards the G87 in that it appears to be ok, but I’m also in no hurry to move on from the F87.

The M2 is quite different. I see it as it doesn't take itself seriously which I like. Especially with a 6MT, you kind of have to think about what you're doing. It doesn't put down the power nearly as well but it's just a very playful car while not feeling out of control. I think it's a hoot for street driving I'm not scared of the interior of the G87. Screen doesn't scare me one way or another, but the carbon buckets were so stunning. I'd love something like that in the F87

I'm not considering, I am. First in line for allocation at my dealer and will order as soon as permitted. Why? Because it's going to be a fantastic car.

Keeping an eye out for power output and crank hub design.
All wheel drive would be cool if there is control of the bias

There are no plans to date on an AWD G87. Maybe in a few years when the LCI comes out they'll offer AWD, but even then it seems highly unlikely. |

It's lower tier vehicle, so there is that exclusivity factor they would try to maintain with only the G80/82 and above. And AWD done M style would push the M2 out their target price range. The M version the AWD is not just skin-deep, it's the real deal but it adds a slew of complexity, from two separate e-diffs front & back, new DSCi e-brakes, that modules electronically, without the need for hydraulic pressure and back and a host of other electronics that vectors power. The M2 with an AWD option would add $4,000 to its sticker price and TBH, it's really not necessary on a small wheel based vehicle, if you know how to actually drive, i.e. aware of and respect the limits of your vehicle, proper feathering of the throttle and use of season-appropriate tires. If you use common sense defensive driving, modern BMW RWD systems give you enough slack to regain control, for the most part, rendering AWD is an overkill for these streets but there is market for it and on BMW M cars they done it right. |

Yes, simply due to the performance the car will offer. Still deciding between this and 2 other cars, but it's looking promising for me specifically
