Out of the blue someone reached out saying something along the lines "didn't see this one in that M2 Competition thread" and "you can add it".

Apparently Darth Vader is still wearing "! do not remove !" shades for the moment.

And the leaks keep on coming! Interesting that the start button is not red. The bezel around the air vent just right of the dash also appears to be different, I don't see any CF. Must be the gloss black finish.

It still shows the chrome trim peice that runs below the carbon fibre trim in the current LCI M2.That pic makes it look like they are replacing the carbon fibre trim in that area with gloss black trim.Didn’t the M2 Competition VIN info confirm that the car would still have the carbon fibre trim?

The first pic in Artemis post is the M2 Competition, the other pic which you've cropped is from the M2 LCI. Look at ChrisK post where he's outlined the trim in gloss black. The VIN thread had both CF and gloss black. Gloss black is standard with CF being optional.

Thanks for the info,I don’t remember seeing that in any of the VIN’s that have been posted for the M2 Competion. The original BMW images of the MY18 M2 LCI showed gloss black around the carbon fibre trim, instead of the chrome, that is on the current MY18 M2 LCI.

Yes, it's a bit confusing since the LCI pics show the gloss black under the center CF. AFAIK all of the LCI's received the chrome trim and I've yet to see any with the gloss black. Here's a snippet from the VINs thread stating what the M2 Competition gets, thanks to Artemis who was kind enough to put this very informative list together months ago and has kept it up to date.

Last September forum fellow SickFinga specified the following about the 4LU, 4MC and 7M9 codes:

7M9 is exterior. Refers to the grill and exhaust tips
See also the 7M9 code of the BMW F90 M5 First Edition:

The pre-series M2 Competition VINs show that the cars either got code 4LU (stock) or 7M9 (optional) (exactly 50% split).

Hence, I just updated/corrected the first post of this thread to point this out:

What happened was the PR cars showed up in the database way ahead of their actual builds. This was a new thing (it used to be a couple of weeks at most), which threw me off.

There's something that could show up late 2019 - early 2020. I don't know what it will be exactly. And I know for certain there'll be nothing else between the Comp and that one.

Looks like M2 CS won't be here until the end of 2019/early 2020 if at all.

I do not have the far sight that ynguldyn and a couple of others here have. My fortune telling is really cheating.

That's mixed news for me. Having had my new M2 for 3 weeks it helps ease the pain of not being able to wait for Competition and knowing that something else is coming.

On the other hand that suggests it'll be something extra special (not CS) and way out of my budget!

Remains to be seen whether a hardcore F87 M2 is still in the cards, but if it is then...
