No pics or mod updates, but I did get the car to the track on Thursday. I didn't push the car to its limits since I'm still in the break in period, and I don't trust the Contis, but still got to get a good idea of how capable the car is.
The track was Harris Hill Raceway in San Marcos, TX, near Austin. I'm a member there and have a ton of laps out there. My PB in my e36M is in the high 1:25 range on slicks. I ran the M2 at 1:31 on Thursday. Not bad considering all of the limitations. I don't intend this car to be a track car for me by any means, but I will enjoy the occasional session out there. It's really tempting to want to go right out and get some better pads and tires though!

Yay! Completed the 1,276 mile break in today, so I get to unleash the beast!
I'm finally scheduled to get my exhaust, ssk, camber plates and springs done next week

Car is getting a list of stuff installed right now. Added a resonator to the M Performance Exhaust. Will report back on drone elimination

Got my car back today. Will get pictures after it's cleaned up (covered in oak pollen).
* Eibach Springs: love them! Should have come this way from the factory * Ground Control Camber Plates: no issues. Dialed in more camber for occasional track duty. -2.0 front and -1.5 rear * M Performance Exhaust: sounds awesome! Big difference from stock for me. Note that I do have ASD delete harness. I can actually still hear a difference in sound from comfort to sport. I thought that wasn't supposed to be he case but will look into it. I did add a resonator but still have some drone. Will see if it subsides with time. It's not enough to bother me. And, yes, I'll do some videos, likely next weekend * UUC ssk: feels great but alignment is off. Might have the wrong part. Will call them on Monday. If the alignment is corrected, will be very happy (and yes, did flip it around just to confirm if it was not installed correctly)

Some pics after the springs and of the exhaust. Note, they’re not OE tips, but look good so far to me

I drove the car on the way back from Austin and didn't hear the drone. Of course all those years driving the M3 with the BW race exhaust probably decreased my hearing sensitivity.
Let me know next time when you head out to HH.

Been kinda slow on my M2 stuff lately because the weather is perfect for the track!
Setting my personal best at 2:37 at COTA. Driver needs more mods to go faster! |

Awesome thread, keep up the mods!
I'm in the same boat as your were a few months ago. Debating if I should jump on the M2 Competition and get rid of the GT4. I have two young kids and it sucks they can't take a ride with me Any regrets? Let me know your thoughts. (apologies if you've already answered it in the thread somewhere). i might have seen your car on RL. I might post mine up for sale soon. |

That's what makes it tough, my heart says "keep the GT4" but the brain says otherwise. I'll most likely put a deposit down for the M2C and make a decision by the time the car arrives (Hockenheim Silver, 6MT, Exec Pkg). Hoping the OP doesn't have any kinds of regrets. Once you go P-car, it's difficult to go back (naturally progression from a BMW). |
