I'm saying BMW offered nothing to me other than a, "Hey did you know that we had a PDC?"

All cost was on me if I chose to attend including the cost of the school itself.

Thumbs up

Surprised gift #2 from BMW arrived yesterday. I think this came from the dealer as the note had the sales manager's (xeroxed) signature. The note wasn't personalized.

A nice BMW soft cooler and an insulated travel cup thing. It'd be nice if it was M-Sport stuff, but heck, it's still a very nice gesture.

A good gift comes from a poor deal (it's not you but the profit they love). Still not necessarily though. Even a more important point should be demand for what you bought (you can be the only one or just another one).

If you don't mind the question, Might you have financed with BMW Financial Services? It appears the schools may be tied to the financing.

It's quite heavy and chunky with a genuine leather strap and white stitching (not blue ?) and seems pretty good quality. Brand name Rochet - not to be confused with Rochat (Swiss € 700 to € 4000). Looking on the internet it looks like it's worth about € 100. Not a style I would have considered buying though.

M School

I asked about both the driving school, and upgrading to the 1 day M school. Since you can apply the $849 value of the driving school to the 1 day M school, it drops the 1 day M school to $701. I asked how the 15% BMW CCA membership gets applied to that and was told it's 15% off the difference, so it drops the price to $595.85. (I had posted something previously figuring they would just apply the 15% to the difference, so this confirms that).

The e-mail they had sent me also mentioned a 2 night hotel stay (based on availability). Nothing about dinner, though. It later was confirmed that the hotel stay is based on financing through BMW.

I went ahead and signed up for the 1 day M school on April 23. I figure $595 for 1 day using their cars is not a bad deal. A bit more than you would spend for a 2 day HPDE around here, but it sounds like reviews for going to the M school have been pretty positive and no money spent on brakes, tires, insurance and other consumables at the track.
Does anyone know the difference between 1 or 2 day M School, and the 1 day M Drivers Program?

1 Day M Driver's Program is what is included in the M Driver's Package and apparently you have to share cars as there are more people in these classes (only offered once a month) - Cost / Voucher value = $1500

1 Day M School is the real M School where you don't have to share cars - max class size is 16 I believe (these classes are held way more frequently than the M Driver's Program) - Cost = $1550 (and you can upgrade from the M Driver's Program to the 1 Day M School for $50 - paid directly to the Performance Center)

2 Day M School is 2-days, includes 1 night (I believe) accommodations and ground transportation and is more intense than 1-Day M School...though I believe you still don't get to go on the big tracks with 2-day school. Cost = $3,999

Then there is Advanced M School which does allow you to hit a real road course - no idea on cost here as its way more than I'm willing to spend but its 2 days and supposedly pretty good

I'm curious -- did you really receive a free 1-day M school? Most people I've heard of received a free Car Control course with the option of a credit for the value ($849) of the Car Control course toward an upgraded course.

After reading the drop down menu, It still is not clear. Is the One Day M School a different program than the M Performance Program. They are priced the same
and the M Drivers Program stated that you follow a lead car around the track to get the best position on track. Is the M Drivers Program they list just a summary of the M School?

Are these "surprise gifts" even related to BMW Financial as some have implied? I financed thru BMW since 4/17 - anyone know if they're actually related or just picked randomly? A $849 complimentary driving school would have been my #1 wish. At this point any of these gifts would have been welcomed. What to do...

Most of the programs provide some track time. The longer the program, the more track time. I have done most of them and never came away less than delighted. It’s very much worth having your own car, so I would upgrade to the 1-day or better 2-day if the schedule and cost work for you. If you have done a program before you may be eligible for advanced school which concentrates on the big tracks.

On the back of my card in fine print states the "one day drivers school" and "one nights stay" is awarded per vehicle. It further states a two night stay is included if financed through BMW. I received two nights stay, I believe because I bought my last 2 vehicles from BMW.

I financed through Penfed and got the free M school. Granted I emailed them and asked since it had been ~5 months. They said I needed to talk with the performance school (which I didn't), but magically it showed up a week or two later.

Per my understanding, it is different...but who knows...the people on the phone (who are sub-contracted and not BMW employees) also can't explain it well. Either way, the M Driver's Program is only offered once a month and usually not a weekend. That makes it pretty inconvenient to take...and why I upgraded to the 1-Day M School

I just got back from the 2-Day M School, and it comes with 2 nights accommodations and ground transportation. You get 2 dinner and 2 breakfast vouchers for the hotel, and 2 lunches and 1 dinner at the Performance Center. In other words, you won't be paying for any meals.

Day 1 of the 2-Day M School is apparently just like the 1-Day M School. Day 2, however, is much more intensive and you do get to go on the big track several times on day 2.

Note that you do NOT take the M2 on the big course. Those are reserved for the M3 and M4 only.

Also, you can apply your school voucher towards the 2 Day school.

For the record, you do a lead follow on the 1-Day M School and the 2-Day M School. I'm sure you do it on the M Performance Program as well. It's just the best way for them to teach you the lines.

The M Drivers Program is shared cars. I would skip this and just upgrade to the 1 Day M School if it's only $50. I had a friend who did the M Drivers Program and it was a bit unfair that even during time trials, some cars had passengers and others did not. Plus, you get more seat time on the 1 Day M School.
