So I found out what was causing the delay on my car.
I was getting increasingly frustrated this afternoon as I saw W38 M2s from the Tortugas that docked on Sunday morning arrive at dealerships and mine was still no-where to be seen. There's actually 4 W37 M2s from Thalatta that are stuck in the VPC, and mine is one of them. Getting to the point... there was damage, but apparently it's a chip on one of the door handles. I'm frustrated, but a door handle is a hell of a lot better than a body panel, and worse case, I can get a new one painted to match from somewhere like IND without issue. I've heard good things about VPC work, so I'm hopeful there won't be any issues. Still feel a bit annoyed about the whole thing... a lot of hours of sleep have been missed, both because I've been excitedly hoping that tomorrow will be the day I pick it up, and worried what the damage might be! I should have the car by the end of the week, but when, I don't yet know...

And today I received this from my CA:
I'm flying down to southern CA tomorrow morning to pick up. Hopefully the repairs are all to a good standard when I arrive. It will be soooo sooo good to get this wait over with. Initially the waiting was like waiting for Christmas as a kid, but sadly it's now got to the point where it's just stressful and I want it to be over.

When I did ED on an M235i in Sep 2015, I noticed some deep paint damage to the rear spoiler about 30 minutes after leaving the Welt. I'm sure it was there on delivery, I just didn't notice. I reported it immediately via email, and again when returning the car in Munich. It was fixed at the VPC in Port Hueneme - which, as in your case, caused about a 10 day delay in re-delivery. But the happy ending is that the VPC did an absolutely fabulous job of fixing it. I don't know if they repaired it, or simply replaced the spoiler - but it looked perfectly brand new to me when it was redelivered. I've attached a pic of what the original damage looked like - it was perfect on redelivery. And hey - the M2 is fabulous - it will take away all the stress of the wait in the first 30 minutes of your drive home. |

Best of luck on your trip, and sorry you had such a long wait - I can understand how the anticipation turned to stress, esp when they told you it had some damage.

OK, I'm back home, with the car, and everything was great.
I cannot say enough good things about Rusnak BMW. From the beginning of the process right through to today, they have been fantastic. My CA was Roger Carroll, and he's so much different from the typical car salesman cliché, but judging by the awards in his office, also quite successful. Going through finance can often be a chore, but at Rusnak it was a breeze. Obviously they tried to sell me extended warranties and service packages, but I politely declined once and we moved on without any hard sell at all. I can say with absolute certainty that if Roger is still at Rusnak when it's time for my next car, I'll be dealing with him again.

Some quick photos before I go to bed...
I brought with me two rolls of Contact film that I'd purchased from Target ahead of time. This was the perfect amount to cover the full hood, bumper, fenders, mirrors and rocker panels. Roger was kind enough to spend about 45 minutes with me helping me put the film on before I left - it was much easier with his help! I'll try to post some more photos without the film on, but for now, these will have to do:

Oh, and by the way... Continental Tyres ㅠ.ㅠ
The Contact film worked great, but I stopped a couple of times to trim areas that had caught the wind and gathered a little dust. I didn't want this flapping onto the paint and so cut these small areas out, flattened down the film and then carried on. By the time I got home ~375 miles later, 99% of the film was still in place and holding well. I can confidently say that Contact is a hell of a lot quicker than blue tape! Thanks to whoever it was on here made that suggestion.

If it is actively beeping, and you take it out of R and put it into N, it will continue beeping, or at least mine does. The button will not re-enable the camera unless you have put it into R first, and then taken it back out of R without moving. In that instance alone, IIRC it will re-enable the camera, but it shuts off once you pull forward.

Nezil, congrats on M2 get!!
I still haven't taken the time to sit down in the car and screw with ESYS, partially out of fear I'll mess something up and still trying to put together a list of what I want to do. I know you were curious about the VLD and AFS systems... we had a thread going about all of that but I can't find it now?

At long last, my ED car is back home! I picked it up today.
I also said goodbye to it, for a few days, while it will be fully wrapped with Xpel Ultimate. One of these days, I'll get to drive it |

I put temporary film on mine for the drive from southern CA to northern CA, but couldn't get an appointment until Friday this week; 8 days after I brought it back. The temptation to drive it has been too difficult to resist, but I've avoided any time that it rained, and all highways. I think I've been OK and not got any chips, but I'm now not driving it again until Friday morning because it's raining tomorrow and the Thursday. Get it done ASAP and then you can enjoy it without concern for chips! I can't wait myself!

The wait is finally over, PCD was great, had fun tearing up the tires and brakes on their cars. Picked up my car yesterday, delivered it to detailer for Opti-coat Pro Plus in Greenville. Pick up the car in the morning, throw on some track wrap on the vulnerable ares for the 500 mile trip home. Looking forward to the trip home.

Ugh - according to "Genius", my car is currently held up at Newark VPC for a "potential faulty instrument panel" - along with others, based on its "build time".
