PR campaign M2 Competitions are about to be built. This means the vehicle is going public just before or after the holidays.

A part of me recognizes that you’re trolling. So had to call you out. And am I reconsidering? Yep. I had a few other cars on my list initially. A 718 and a F80 Grocery Getter (the wife’s ask, wants me to buy my coupe later). So this gives me pause. Should anyone else reconsider? To each his/her own.

I’d imagine for most it’s not a deal breaker.

I leave writing longwinded articles to the BMWBlog folks.

Everyone should stick to what they do best.

Personally - I'm going to enjoy the hell out of my soon-to-be-delivered M2. And it sure seems silly for anybody who had enough enthusiasm to go to the trouble to get this hard-to-acquire car in the first place, to suddenly lose interest because next year's model is "better". Wow.

Not dissing the enthusiasm for the CS - looks like it's gonna be pretty cool. But it sure seems like there is massive over-reaction going on here based on quasi-official rumor.

Just sayin ... Flame away
No flame needed.I am just going by the track record of ynguldyn posting future BMW model info on this forum.

Yes, I've seen and appreciated ynguldyn's posts. My point wasn't about ynguldyn's veracity or credibility - it was not my intent to disparage his/her information or reputation.

My point is basically what you said in your first reply to my post ... what happened to all the enthusiasm for the M2 when all that's happened is someone (who is seemingly in the know - not just "anyone" ) has shared that the M2 is EOP in June 2018? The M2 is still as good as it ever was.

I'm kind of wondering if this is being done because the M2 truly is a loss for BMW on each sale, and the CS is a way to correct that.

Seems like they just can't sell the n55 in the markets they want to after Aug 2018 so what do they do? Do they do something with the b58 for the last two years of this gen of M2? Seems like a pain in the ass to develop a version of the b58 for the last couple model years. They already have the s55 happening on the M2 anyway, so it might just be less hassle to go with that.

So then do they just have a CS and retire the base?
Do a Competition and the CS to have something priced a bit less than the CS but both with the s55?
Do the CS and the base M2 with the s55?

I actually had a slot for a CS at a large dealer #1 on the list, but all the info at that time was no 6MT, so I took a build on an M2. Now it seems like 6MT is back? What changed?

There was never any info stating the M2 CS would not have a manual. People assumed that it was not going to have a manual since the M4 CS is DCT only.

If you connect all the dots with the info we have today both manual and DCT will be offered for the M2 CS.

Don't know what to think. There is going to be a newer and faster M2 and if it is available with a 6-speed, then I want!!!

So all this news that the CS is a limited run of 1000 units globally sounds wrong. Maybe that applies to the CSL and the Chinese whispers have merged wrong? From what’s been found out and discussed above it seems the CS will be just the regular M2 come next year. So my preorder for a CS is most likely pointless. I was much more interested if it was exclusive. I’ll still have one but it will deprecate just as fast as the MY2017 I have now. So my investment dream is over. Bit gutted about that.

It's either going to cost less than the base M4 ($67k) and be extremely hard to get, or more and be easier to get.

Based on the limited production capacity of the current M2, I'm going to guess the former. Probably starting at $63k with dealers putting ridiculous markup on it. I have no desire to trade my current M2 in.

Caliper and disc are decent in fact, only but pad needs to be changed, so probably does braking line. Low cost upgrades anyway.

Why so much complaining on the brakes of late?. Never seen that many complaints from M4 owners and same brakes but on lighter less powerful car should be up to the job....no?

Is there a difference between the M2 Competition and M2 CS? Same car or will there be two S55 models?

Since they're calling it M2 Competition in the books, I'm thinking this is not the CS, this is the M2 replacement with the S55. So will there be a M2 CS proper? ynguldyn
