As far as the CS.. which sounds like it's your ideal machine..

performance increase - check
suspension upgrade - likely incremental - not even ZL9 setup

The main reason that you won't get any or much of the above in the CS... ? Practicality..

I can only hope it's good, I don't have the money to squander on a one trick pony like a GTS. So if the CS is an improvement on the current M2 by way of power, balance and a slight weight reduction, which has been achieved in the M4, but still retains the ability to chuck my friends in the back, or launch the tent in and head to Silverstone for the weekend then that is good enough for me.

The suspension has to be sorted at least, well for the UK anyhow, the compression and damping is plain awful outside of a track or smooth road. It needs to be faster

Let's remember how practical and comfortable the 1M is, it's a hoot to drive but still let's you load up and head off, so I don't think that's a bad thing wanting a bit of practicality. And with the 1M it is a great car but, would you still have one or, have even bought one if they never made them in Ltd numbers? I would guess you wouldn't have, as it wouldn't of met anything you have mentioned about the GTS.

I am jealous of your 1m though and feel bad for selling mine.

For the moment I got no plans for a trade-in.

I can see myself still spending quite some 'quality time' inside the M2 with an armrest and plain black seat belts.

If the weather is OK at the end of this month, I'm likely off again for another 'escapade' high-up in the Dolomites. Enjoy life while you can.

Your right, no point sitting around waiting because by the time the CS arrives something else will be on the horizon and temptation will strike again! I do have a deposit down but I'm just driving around In My M2 enjoying the hell out of it until that day arrives, or not if it's stupid price.

Don't worry stefan, I for one can witness that the base M2 is a great car too. Spend the extra M2 CS money on mods and fuel for your base M2.

But should I trade in my base M2 for an M2 CS, quite likely I will tick most boxes on the options list, except for option "2MK" (M-DCT with Drivelogic).

This is great news. In a couple of days I am sure there will be an article plagiarized somewhere with exactly this information. We all know where we heard it first. Thanks a lot.

Also, looking at the options on the 2nd car, the "2NH M Sport Brake" could be the option to get those larger brakes that we see testing in the spyshots. Wonder how much that option would cost.

I was looking at the initial M4 GTS and M4 CS spyshots and it was roughly a year from when the first spyshots appeared to when the car was officially unveiled. According to that timeline, the M2 CS should be unveiled before the end of this year.

Also, the first M4 GTS spshots did not even have the GTS hood. One of those GTS cars did not even have the roll cage that made it onto the eventual car. It could be that the M2 Competition (CS) could still get more updates between what we see and what finally makes it onto the production car.

Although I'm not Artemis per se..

Let me put it this way: It seems highly unlikely that the CS is NOT being developed at the M GmbH in Garching - where else would BMW develop an M car if not at the designated headquarter?
