Orange peel is in the clear coat and you can remove it through wet sanding. I saw someone do this to a new car once (maybe bmw can't remember) and the results were phenomenal. However it will be removing factory clear coat thickness so is not advised.

I'm no expert but I think it's in the way the clear coat dries? Thus it can be treated with wet sanding, beyond my skills and certainly one for experienced details. Results can be extremely glossy sheen and a much much smoother surface finish. Implications to paint resilience and longevity I'm not certain.

Finally redelivered the car at PCD last week. Great drive back to Boston after a pit stop to install some parts, a quick detail, and time in the 2002. Still waiting on some random small parts and continuing to build the arsenal of detail products, but making progress. More photos about PCD to come!
Quick Mods – - IND Front Reflector Delete Kit - LBB - ACEXXON Reflector – Horizontal Slats - Rear Parking Sensor Camera Switch – 61319252912 - Stainless Steel Pedals – 35002232276 - Wheel Locks - 36136792851 - M License Plate Frame – 82120010404 - US Millworks Front License Plate - Vgate iCar 2 & Bimmercode (Awesome app!) Coded Following – - Comfort Open/Close (Fob, Mirror Close, etc.) - Halos Full Bright - Radio & Nav Off w/Door Open - Amber Side Markers Off - Waiting for new bulbs to come in to finish the look - iDrive Disclaimers Off – Startup & Backup Camera - Use iPhone Ringtone - Video in Motion - ASD Off - Rear Fog Lights – This DIY was most like how our dash comes apart. Just pull the vent straight out and same for the panel holding the switch. Probably wasn't even necessary to get the button off, but it took an extra couple minutes to ensure nothing broke. When coding, don’t forget the FEM_BODY. (http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1023817)

Didnt get it brand new. Got it at around 5k miles. There were some minor blemishes to clean up. With that said, even with new cars I believe a good polishing is in order before any ppf or coating to remove minor scratches or swirls that a good professional detailer can find.

I finally took my first step in solving my front tire wear problems on the track with the Bilstein B16 PSS10 kit. Still need to play around with the ride height but the upgraded shocks soak up all of the NYC area bumps nicely. |

As I said in your project thread. So much win, all the best parts and nothing over the top. Just clean a clean look that most would take for OEM but people with a bit of knowledge stop and give a appreciation for with a "not bad"-nod.

I haven't tried the VIM yet, but I was able to go through all of the menus to unlock it. See this post - http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=609

Lot's of thing happened over the last few days for me!
I've got Ground Control camber plates and Ohlins R&T installed by Alekshop on Friday. Aleks did a fantastic job at picking up the best kit for my needs and setting everything up on time for me. If you are in the bay area I recommend checking his shop out (and his track ready M2 as well!). We also found out that my front tires did not do so well with my previous trackdays (most likely over inflated). The new setup is absolutely fantastic, it is incredible how big of a difference it makes. I was at Laguna Seca yesterday and my times went down by 4 full seconds. The car handles perfectly, the feedback and steering are so precise. The coilovers are set to the mild track setting, it ends up being a little stiffer on day to day driving but absolutely ok for daily driving for me. |

Just installed my Fabspeed 200 cell downpipe today. Just started the engine no test drive yet, but you can hear the turbo spool and engine seems to rev more freely, sounds awesome with MPE.

I don't know what brand/equipment you're using but a foam gun/cannon should have enough reach that you never have to put your equipment over your car. I can't even stand within 2 ft if want to use it properly. Quote:
