That's my understanding. Orange peel is there to stay.

Orange peel is in the clear coat and you can remove it through wet sanding. I saw someone do this to a new car once (maybe bmw can't remember) and the results were phenomenal. However it will be removing factory clear coat thickness so is not advised.

I'm no expert but I think it's in the way the clear coat dries? Thus it can be treated with wet sanding, beyond my skills and certainly one for experienced details. Results can be extremely glossy sheen and a much much smoother surface finish. Implications to paint resilience and longevity I'm not certain.

Finally redelivered the car at PCD last week. Great drive back to Boston after a pit stop to install some parts, a quick detail, and time in the 2002. Still waiting on some random small parts and continuing to build the arsenal of detail products, but making progress. More photos about PCD to come!

Quick Mods –
- IND Front Reflector Delete Kit - LBB
- ACEXXON Reflector – Horizontal Slats
- Rear Parking Sensor Camera Switch – 61319252912
- Stainless Steel Pedals – 35002232276
- Wheel Locks - 36136792851
- M License Plate Frame – 82120010404
- US Millworks Front License Plate
- Vgate iCar 2 & Bimmercode (Awesome app!)

Coded Following –
- Comfort Open/Close (Fob, Mirror Close, etc.)
- Halos Full Bright
- Radio & Nav Off w/Door Open
- Amber Side Markers Off - Waiting for new bulbs to come in to finish the look
- iDrive Disclaimers Off – Startup & Backup Camera
- Use iPhone Ringtone
- Video in Motion
- ASD Off
- Rear Fog Lights – This DIY was most like how our dash comes apart. Just pull the vent straight out and same for the panel holding the switch. Probably wasn't even necessary to get the button off, but it took an extra couple minutes to ensure nothing broke. When coding, don’t forget the FEM_BODY. I used VRSF speed factory spacers. No rubbing at all. Now that I have them on, I'd probably go with 15mm in the front. But that said really like the look especially in the rear.

Thanks much appreciated! I used 70% for side windows and 30% for the rear quarters and back window. No tint on the front, just came out like that in the photos... but would look pretty cool!

Genuinely curious: What correction did you need on a new car?
Didnt get it brand new. Got it at around 5k miles. There were some minor blemishes to clean up. With that said, even with new cars I believe a good polishing is in order before any ppf or coating to remove minor scratches or swirls that a good professional detailer can find.

Good stuff! Can you talk about what exactly this mod does?
--> Rear Parking Sensor Camera Switch – 61319252912

Were you able to get the Video in Motion to work, even at speed?

Thanks!

Saw those two M2s in the BBS tent, both looked great. I may need to get that front lip.

I finally took my first step in solving my front tire wear problems on the track with the Bilstein B16 PSS10 kit. Still need to play around with the ride height but the upgraded shocks soak up all of the NYC area bumps nicely.

As I said in your project thread. So much win, all the best parts and nothing over the top. Just clean a clean look that most would take for OEM but people with a bit of knowledge stop and give a appreciation for with a "not bad"-nod.

The rear parking switch adds the camera off/on button that BMW didn't give the M2. It's a standard 2 series switch that is plug and play compatible (no coded needed). When backing into spaces, the camera and the beeping doesn't stop until you put the car in first gear and actually move forward. With this, one click of the camera button turns it off. When installing, I swapped the Sport/Eco button cover for the original Sport/Comfort. Original thread I found - http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1345311

I haven't tried the VIM yet, but I was able to go through all of the menus to unlock it. See this post - http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=609

Lot's of thing happened over the last few days for me!

I've got Ground Control camber plates and Ohlins R&T installed by Alekshop on Friday. Aleks did a fantastic job at picking up the best kit for my needs and setting everything up on time for me. If you are in the bay area I recommend checking his shop out (and his track ready M2 as well!).

We also found out that my front tires did not do so well with my previous trackdays (most likely over inflated).

The new setup is absolutely fantastic, it is incredible how big of a difference it makes. I was at Laguna Seca yesterday and my times went down by 4 full seconds. The car handles perfectly, the feedback and steering are so precise. The coilovers are set to the mild track setting, it ends up being a little stiffer on day to day driving but absolutely ok for daily driving for me.

Just installed my Fabspeed 200 cell downpipe today. Just started the engine no test drive yet, but you can hear the turbo spool and engine seems to rev more freely, sounds awesome with MPE.

Wow that's a nice repair, figured was nearly impossible to close to a sharp edge.

I don't know what brand/equipment you're using but a foam gun/cannon should have enough reach that you never have to put your equipment over your car. I can't even stand within 2 ft if want to use it properly.

You can correct it with 'orange peel' pads on a DA or rotary, c pro carries them as of 2012, just ytube it to see results. Results that i've seen IRL are pretty impressive, haven't used it myself yet. From all i've read operation seems to be a lot 'drier' than regular pad materials so you really need to pay attention to that.
