M-Performance Exhaust Bypass (Red Pimple) - DIY
If you're looking for a way to permanently keep 'On' the obnoxious Red Pimple on to the New M-Performance Exhaust, this DIY will help.
Level of difficulty: Easy Time required: 5-30 Minutes Tools Required: - Flathead Screwdriver/Fingernails - 4-6 cm of wire, preferably a thin one - Black Tape Special thanks to SimNugget for providing detailed information on how to do this! Detailed guide with pictures below. Step 1 Remove plastic retainer clips circled in yellow with fingernails/flathead screwdriver and pull trunk fabric until you have access to the relevant wires Step 2 Switch off MPE Exhaust Module Step 3 Unplug the Red/Black Cable from the multi-coloured one Step 4 Craft a 4-6cm wire and bend it in a U-shape Step 5 Now Insert both ends of the wire respectively in each angle where the black wires lie (Where the blue circles lie in the shitty paint diagram) It should look something like this Step 6 Switch on MPE module and test the bypass. If it is not working you must thin out the wiring and push it deeper in the hole Step 7 Secure the cables in whichever way you prefer. I’m temporarily using Black Tape. Step 8 Tug cable back in & put trim back together Step 9 Done! Button will automatically turn on and off with ignition. Last edited by Dav3; 07-27-2017 at 02:15 PM.. |

question
Is it true that if you double tap the remote controller and open the valves, then move the remote far away from the bluetooth receiver then the valves will permanently stay open even after you turn the engine off?
Read this in a thread in this forum, can anyone confirm? |

It?s even easier than that. Cut both the read wires off at the base. Cut the black wires off a the switch and solder the two black wires together. You do not need the switch or the red wires for a permanent bypass.

Great detailed write up - thanks for taking the effort to do it.
I think it is the best way as it looks stock and can be returned to stock if there are any warranty issues. I also didn't want a hole left in the trim if the red button was removed. S |

Thanks for this detailed write-up, I had to redo this after the dealer removed it while doing warranty work.
I used one of these to splice the two black wires together. http://www.partex-direct.co.uk/image...s2-500x500.jpg S |

Great write up - thanks for posting.
Looking to get an MPE in the spring but the thicky inside of me is a little unsure about one of the steps above. I'm guessing you don't plug the small plug back in, but what is it attached to in the picture showing it taped to something? Thanks |

Only thing you really are doing is inserting a copper wire in given holes to short it so that it stays on Tape is to hold the cable inserted in the two holes together. Probably a thousand better ways of securing the extra wire but it has held up for me for more than 6 months now |

I believe it's in Europe only. You have to press that red button every time before you can open the flaps to track mode with the bluetooth controller. Once pressed you can open and close the flaps at will but as soon as you turn the car off and restart it you have to press the red button again before you can use the bluetooth controller. PITA.
