The M6 GT3 is likely to be replaced by whatever they use for the WEC next year - the mostly likely rumour on that, is it will be an 8 Series...

I also can't seem them confusing the message of the M235iR cup car by having a top line 2 series racer as well.
as much as I wish that someone like Turner or some of the privateeers in Pirelli World Challenge or Continental tire series here in the US..
I agree... The full on treatment for full race cars seems to be bouncing between the big coupes like the M4 and the M6.

At least the 235i racing does exist for the chassis development.

No offense to the M2 community as a soon to be owner of 17’ M2. Why pay 80k or 100k for a modest increase in performance and some updated suspension bits. That’s new Porsche 911s money which I’d rather have than a stripped out M2.

P.S Please don’t kick me off the forum. Maybe the Porsche guys would let me on theirs

Only thing m4 will be good for is for leather seats...
Personally I think that the S55 indications could simply be a placeholder.

All we know is the test mules " sound like " S55 exhaust farts and we have seen some rumors about mules with an S55 "looking" motor inside.

The biggest reason for dropping in the S55..

1) plenty of S55 motors siting around and cost has dropped on the motor such that placing it into the M2 driveline may be an easy drop in..

2) allows BMW to phase out the N55 which is getting long in the tooth - it began production in 2009...

Or course... BMW could also be quietly developing a B583OT0... .. an S58 ... or.. gasp.. even an S48 now that most of the competitors in the lineup will have less than 6 cyl.. Time will tell... but it seems to me that BMW will need to put a motor into the upcoming X3M and X4M... (S55 has been rumored for these already..) as well as possibly a hot X2 model.. (can't see this getting an S55 also) as well as continue to provide motors for the M2 for the next several years.

The following is as precise and explicit as I can be on this subject:

All of the 40+ production spec M2 CS built by now are DCT.

Honestly, I'm thinking about making the transition to DCT after 20+ manual years...but a choice would have been great....
Just in case I change my mind.

No manual CS to be offered really?

Haven't BMW been paying attention to Porsche ?

Oh well guess it standard M2 for me or wait for new GT4

That figures. I just talked myself out of DCT and into 6MT because of how much fun my old BMW was to drive. I actually prefer not to have to make the decision. So I hope they, do indeed, pick one for me.

Cancelled my deposits for the M2 CS today. Put my monies into the M2 GTS. We will see what all the years of building a relationship with the dealer principle are worth....

We don't yet know the power outputs of the M2CS nor the M4CS. Too early to make such a conclusion.

So you put your moneys in the clouds

I think an M2GTS is highly speculative.

Perhaps BMW will save the MT for the M2 GTS?

Like the GT4?

An M2 GTS might out-perform the M4 GTS...so you "neuter" it with a MT (for absolute performance figures) and create a cult classic at the same time?

Are you adding a 4th ///M?

Or parting ways with one of your stable?

Note how many cars are new. I see difficulty ahead in actually pulling the trigger. That ringing endorsement of " i guess I'll take the base" tells me all I need to know.

Even with traction off (dsc still on) you find it coming on for a second and that can also be enough to unsettle the car. On smooth roads it's great, but any bumps and it just doesn't work as one until. Switch back to stock, albeit with dp and intercooler, it's much more compliant. Basically, it's great for the track but not as great on b roads.. Just my opinion
This post is very relevant. One of the repeated praises for the M2 is, as shipped from BMW, it has the right combination of suspension and power to make it a well-balanced car. If you've increased the power by 40-50hp, did you make any changes to the suspension to compensate? If not, why blame BMW?

And besides, the track is really the only place that you can reliably and safely use everything that the M2 comes with from BMW. I'm still at a loss to understand how many people line up power, brake, suspension mods, etc., as soon as they buy something like an M2. It's a car that comes from BMW way more capable than virtually any purchaser is (regardless of what you really believe about your driving capabilities). So, rather than spend thousands on a tune to gain some moderate HP, why not spend it on track time, so you can learn to drive it closer to the cars' capabilities?

-rb
Go over to the S2 thread and try to explain that to them. They're utterly convinced that you can add 100hp, let alone 50, and leave the suspension alone. Because, you know, it has some M4 bits...

I've no idea .. haven't really been following the X models. Personally .. I would be surprised to see an S58 developed for the SAV line first and then handed down to the next M3 and M4 .. but it could certainly go that way.

no longer was it waiting for an LCI and just some tail lights. If this is true and is the replacement for the LCI, well, it's a different engine. I would say that's how. lol.
