You didn't post the diagrams of the engine blocks. Maybe you were worried you'd break bimmerpost? I have no such concerns, I know the user base here will keep the controversy going for months to come. I can see both sides, lot's of conflicting information has caused all this uncertainty. To be honest, I have no clue what's under the hood nor do I proclaim to know.

Case closed on this question, it was always the standard N55 open deck block (as suspected)

This is like the turbo of the N55... same story. The M2 has a BMW-tuned N55 engine. End of story. |

Further, when our doubts were expressed to BMW, we got official confirmation from them that the deck was closed. So the question was understandably kept alive - unimportant as the feature may be to most. |

I don't think you would get anything. It's not clear that it was intentional and it also does not affect the performance of the car one bit, nor impact the resale value.

Not in the reply as posted he didn't. He just ignores his previous explicitly clear statement and states he is correcting a marketing material error. Perhaps he is correct this time, but has kind of lost all credibility at this point.
Kind of like Bullwinkle from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show... "This time for sure!" But sure, let's go with this so the endless debate can finally be finished! |

Not that I am on the close deck camp, simply pointing out if it doesn't take being a S55 block to be a closed deck.
