Got my wheels today as well. With Michelin X-ice tires. It's Nov. 1 and 75F outside. Looks like we'll get a few more weeks of warm weather here in Chicago, so won't mount them just yet. I like the wheels a lot. Would certainly look even better with sportier tires like Alpins, but didn't want to chance it. Here is what it looks like with the tires next to the car.
Thanks, Apex! |

My Apex wheels and winter Michelins arrived today. I had black Apex wheels as winter replacements on my 135is and wanted a change for the M2 so went with the Anthracite color. Love them. However, I have a problem. I want to replace the Apex center caps (sorry Apex) with BMW caps. The Apex website has them available but it says they only fit the Apex "5 x 120" wheels, not the "4 x 100" wheels. Not sure what that means and whether or not the EC71 wheels we got for our M2s will accept the BMW caps. Anyone happen to know?????

We are expecting to receive more today, so I believe they would ship out Monday if you have placed an order.

Mounted yesterday. No problems so far. TMPS works for both tire pressure and temperature. I went with Michelin x-ice 3s. These have a conservative profile, so not the sexiest look, but they still handle pretty decent on dry pavement and should be very good in snow and ice. Car no longer feels like it's on rails but it doesn't squirm either. These tires still handle reasonably sporty street driving in the dry without issues. I'm curious how they will behave in the snow.

I was told by Tirerack that the x-ice 3 are a c***hair less capable in the snow compared to Blizzaks but have better dry handling capabilities. I've had Blizzaks in the past and they were unstoppable in the snow. If the Michelins are anywhere close, we're good. There are so many grooves/crevices/indentations, etc. in these x-ice's tread that you can tell they are going to do the job.

Wheels came today and my car showed up as well. great timing - just to confirm the stock wheel hardware bolts etc. will fit on the Apex winter wheels, no need for special tuner bolts etc.?

Put winters on her, still looks sexy
How's everyone doing with the new winter set? Just put mine on (yes I know, a bit late). Threw them on, reset TPMS, everything went smooth as butter. Ride feels a bit smoother over the bumps too!

Sure, all the details are in the first post of this thread on the group buy website. I did a square setup:
Wheels: Apex EC-7 18x9" ET31 front and rear. Tires: Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 245/40-18. For those in a more harsh/extreme winter climate who expect to be dredging through snow more often than not, then the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 are recommended over the Alpins.
