M2 GTS / CS rendering... rumored to have S55 from M4 GTS
In the current issue of AutoMotor und Sport they have a nice render of what "might be" the net M2 GTS.
Also, I spoke with a few people I know at BMW... and the rumor mill is that ///M is thinking of doing a GTS model powered by an S55 from the GTS M4. The price tag will be about double of the current M2 though. Thoughts ??? and a new render...

Reasons why I don't care to wait for an M2 GTS or CS:
1. No longer a good value/affordable 2. Wing looks like complete $#!+ 3. No 6MT, most likely 4. Will be limited production, stupid hard to find, or will be sold to BMW "friends" only. 5. Pretty sure no matter what they do, I'd rather have a 2017 M2 + E46 M3. For 120K Euro I could add a 1M, as well. Oh and... 6. S55 sounds like garbage - do. not. want. So basically an M2 with M4 GTS underpinnings? Im guessing it won't be offered to mere mortals then anyway. Id prefer they made a hotter M2, but one thats actually obtainable and not subject to the Porsche GT car sales treatment. |

Would you prefer a Porsche Cayman GT4 to a BMW M4 GTS if their pricing were equivalent?

If so, hard to say. Would need more details on this hypothetical M2 GTS before making that call. It'd take a lot for an M2 to compete directly with the GT4, and particularly a well-optioned GT4 (LWB, PCCB, etc). If you did mean the M4 GTS, I would not cross-shop the two. The GT4 is a small, nimble, visceral sports car. The M4 in any guise... isn't. |

Love it. Could never afford it. I'll be happy with my M2, and happy for anyone who has the money to buy a GTS and the balls to drive it!

For double the price of a normal M2.
No way. Not worth it. Better spend money on building you're own M2 trackday car. |

To be fair the real price of a GT4, GT3, GT3RS etc is what the flippers are asking for them. Not many can walk into a dealer and get msrp. So that evens the score a bit. However, as I've mentioned, i strongly suspect this M2 variant (if it happens) will be in the same situation.

The most I would be willing to spend on an M2 GTS/CSL/CS (whatever they call it) would be low to mid 80s (hopefully lower). Anything above that and it's just not worth it to me.

M4 GTS price = 2 x M4 price = 700 cars = sold out.
http://www.evo.co.uk/bmw/m4-gts M2 GTS price = 2 x M2 price = limited quantity = will be sold out. Plenty of folks with deep pockets who want to add a low production halo car to their stable of exotics. However, I believe that there will be no M2 GTS in the near future. M2 CS is rumored to be the first M2 variant to be expected (MY 2018), if BMW doesn't change its mind.

Most of the m4 GTS are bought as an investment. Not for hammering around tracks. Thats because the are insanely priced!
Even people find the gt3 rs become to expensive to run on track days. So what s the use of building them anyway. If BMW would make a better m2 for track then build it for a normal price and build enough for the track day users. Otherwise don t bother building one! |

Nah
Surely it can't be marketed to be faster then the M4 GTS so it has to be one rung below the M4 GTS. From that I just don't see that many 'investors' or enthusiast going for it if the price is double as it is not the top predator GTS. I would buy a Cayman GT4 or a 2nd hand 911 GT3 instead. If they release a CSL version with a manual gearbox, an M4 power plant with slightly reduced power and no more than 50% more expensive than the base M2 then I would seriously consider. |

I also think not many La Ferrari or even GT3 RS customers will be interested in the M2 GTS |
