Not that I'm aware of as it is based on the aspect ratio of the screen from what I have read. I did try a few tools on the android phone to play with the output with little success.
There is a thread that enables full screen carplay but not sure if that has any influence on Miracast. To get what U want you may need to go with Anthony1s suggestion.

i tried changing the aspect ratios on my miracast app but it ended up cutting off the top edges when i widen the width. you would probably need a app that can mircast to the aspect ratio of the stock screen.

Best you could get would stretch out the sides, but then everything will look distorted.
I'm considering if the apple tv option would be better for me. Even though I'm an android user. I'm honestly not even sure what I want or need yet. |

Ok I'm using an Android phone (Note 8) and looking at the options here using mirrcast seems more of a hassle with the aspect ratio etc.
Wondering if I should just use an older iPhone and leave it hooked up in the center console with it tethered to my Note 8. Wouldn't it automatically connect to my note 8 when I'm inside the car? I guess I can figure this out on my own. However, what I wanted to know was can I use carplay wirelessly thru the iPhone while having my Note 8 connect thru the Bluetooth for calls etc, simultaneously. *Loll even this seems like a headache rereading what I wrote. |

i opted to just use the 16:9 ratio since you get more height so it seems bigger. |

iDrive 5 miracast (android screen mirroring) coding
So I recently got the new Istep update for my 2017 bmw m2 6mt, and just did some coding. When I coded in miracast (android screen mirroring) I noticed that when it is screen mirroring the car will not also play music or have handsfree calling via bluetooth. Is this normal for those of you guys out there with miracast coded? Is it possible to have miracast enabled and also have the phone be able to still be connected via bluetooth for music and calls? A side note is that I have tried to the car mirror the screen of one phone and stream bluetooth audio off of another phone but that doesnt work either, it seems to be one or the other: screen mirroring or bluetooth.
Also it seems that my miracast is very unstable when rapidly swiping through the phone that is being mirrored, and the latency makes the screen lag behind and eventually crash. Last but not least, is it possible to have apple car play coded in via Esys? I haven't been able to find much on this asides from companies out there offering this service, but it is not cheap. Thanks alot for the help.

Android Auto for iDrive Project
Hi everyone,
Found this promising looking work in progress open source project to get better integration between Android phones and iDrive: https://github.com/hufman/AndroidAutoIdrive I'd been toying with the idea of doing something like this but it looks like someone beet me to the punch! Tried it out last night and the Spotify integration works way better than the normal spotify/bluetooth integration. |

Can't wait to try this out. As a pixel 3 owner, I can't even do proper screen mirroring without rooting my phone and doing some hackery. Will report back and see how it goes. Looks like I'll need to do my own build to get proper Google maps integration.

Did you have to connect it via USB? I tried via Bluetooth but it didn't seem to do anything. The app showed "connected" but couldn't figure out what to do from there.

Got it working via blutooth, it shows up in idrive as another audio app/source. Had to install a specific version of Spotify per the readme though.
The GoogleMaps integration is a neat idea but needs A LOT of work to really be usable. Looking through some of the branches looks like the author is working on voice commands too! Getting into the code it doesn't seem too complicated, hoping to make some contributions in the coming weeks! |

The GMaps integration just screen shots the view on the phone then renders that on the idrive screen, I'd bet the same approach could be done for just about any application. The big issue is that the FPS is pretty slow (especiallynover bluetooth), the idea I'm going to try out is applying the approach to android auto altogether instead of just GMaps.
