Id5 to id6 lite
All- I am aware of some of you folks have upgraded to id6 lite on the OG despite it being a skin. i was curious if anyone experienced any bugginess from the upgrade?
Id5 has been good and flawless for me so just making sure I am not stepping into something that wasnt intended for the prelci. |

I have id6 lite on my 17 (guessing you have a 17 as well, since 16s don't have the hardware to take id6 IIRC) and love it. No issues whatsoever and it looks way more modern than 5. At least from what I remember... I changed it as soon as I got Bimmercode and never looked back. Hard to think of what id5 looks like now.
I also think it works fine even without the touchscreen, even though it was probably developed as a touch-first interface. Hope it works just as well for you! |

Right.. but any of you guys come across features or tabs on id6 that were clearly designed for touch screen. For example, navigation may have some buttons or zoom features that can only be accessed by touching the screen?
Otherwise, I am contemplating on adding the touchscreen (although there will be a gap in the prelci dashboard) |

Nope. Can all be accessed via iDrive dial.

Touchscreen is the most useless feature on the actual iDrive 6.0 cars anyways - you're not missing out on anything by not having a touchscreen lol

Agreed, it all works perfectly with the iDrive controller and, IMO, is more ergonomic that way. I'm glad I don't have a touchscreen - no temptation to reach up there and no fingerprints on my screen.

okay another one for you gents... for those that went from the factory carplay to the aftermarket coded full screen carplay. did you guys happen to notice if the full screen ones just unusually stretch font, icons, and images or were they actually scaled accordingly to the wider screen?

I'm an Android guy so don't have carplay, but from the pics I've seen it looks like going full-screen adds real estate, it doesn't just stretch the small screen. I would hope that's the case, otherwise why bother.
And no, I'm not at all bitter that BMW decided not to offer Android Auto as well, like every other automaker does. Why do you ask? |

My car came with carplay but standard split screen version. Wondering if its worth dumping money going full acreen but didn’t want it to be a janky stretched version.

Where in the Bay Area are you? I've done fullscreen carplay flashing on a bunch of M2s.
