Mpe new wiring solution to avoid bt
Since the beginning I read many problems about wiring and bt modul of mpe.
When I realize that the actual wiring have to be disconnected totally I decide to not procede with mpe. At same time the car is new and if I install another exhaust and I have problems I have to reinstall the oem and go to dealer in order to not loose the 4 year warranty. After some investigation I found this oem y cable 18302414899. What do you think guys about not install bt modul at all and use the oem connector and y wiring to connect both flap? |

That's actually exactly what I would like to do. But the price of the OEM part is pretty steep. For a bit more money I can have an aftermarket valve controller that will work with homelink buttons on the mirror.

Ok but honestly I am scared about loose the oem ecu because for example when is too hot also in comfort the ecu open the flap....in summer happen often to me and I don't live in Africa!!! Furthermore in traction with y cable there is the sound mode with many many burbling, I don't want to loose this mode at all the cost of the y cable is less than 50 euro...and installing is much faster than bt wiring

The best set up I have seen for M2s is the one Akrapovic uses, but I am not sure you can order that separately. They don't have a BT module.
They connect the flaps directly on the CAN bus and they are controlled by the mode switch. No BT remote required! Loved it when I had it... I never liked the remote that the MPE had. Not really needed due to the nature of the car's flap control. MR |

just want to point out as i have done in similar threads that the actuator for the MPE and the actuator for the OEM are 2 different part #'s so you also may need to order 2 OEM actuators, if you purchased the MPE after you bought the car than you should have 1 OEM actuator lying around somewhere as the MPE comes with 2 MPE actuators

the OEM actuator has the # 8632154 printed on it sometimes manufactures give multiple part #'s for the same items but i believe these are actually different since the MPE comes with 2 actuators, if they were the same then BMW would probably only give you 1 actuator when ordering the MPE and let you use the other OEM one i would assume the OEM actuator would work mechanically with the MPE valve as all it does is turn the spring(not confirmed) and i will assume that if you are using the OEM connector you will need the OEM actuators (not confirmed) |

heres what i would do, and this is what i was planing on doing until i found an amazing deal on a REMUS lol
get a hold of a Y cable and plug it into the OEM connector and then into the MPE actuators (probably wont work imo but worth testing) use an app and your phone to open and close the valves (bimmerlink i think thats what its called) if it works super if not i am about 75% sure it would work with the OEM actuators (part #8632154 ) if you dont have your original one lying around just order 1 first to test i think you can get from ebay or dealership |

These guys - https://www.cgprecision.com/#!/VSC-2...egory=17975157 list their controller as compatible with both OEM and M-Performance exhaust. But that's for the M4 so it could be different.

Ah, damn, this is just getting more and more difficult.
My BT remote is annoyingly unreliable, I'm having to push the button several times before it will work. I'm going to do some more investigation and try to split the OEM single valve plug into two (basically what OP proposed). I would love to have the valves controlled by the drive mode button - closed in Comfort, open in Sport. |

Ok, more research.
So the actual part numbers: Most BMWs - 18308632154 M cars - 18307851568 From the pictures they look identical - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/18307851568/ and https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/18308632154/ Basically the test is gonna be to measure the OEM plug (that's disconnected when you install MPE) and the MPE plug. If the output is the same we win and the Y harness should work. |
