The Michelin PIlot super Sport ( aka PSS) came out in 2011 the year the 1M came out.
It was a revision of the prior tire - the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 which was the OE tire on the 1M and had been a top tire.
The 1M was going to come with the PSS but it was done testing prior to the new tire being fully developed. Immediately , owners began replacing the OE tire with the PSS which has far better traction especially for the rear, and also costs less as well.
