This is a different bolt set than the ones they changed out during the diff repair. Both sets should have been changed but BMW only had one done. That is how it was explained to me by my guys, and I was there to see the repair done, so I know they used new bolts on mine.
OK.

Just thinking out loud, they call them "subframe bolts". That's either the 4 bolts holding the subframe to the unibody, or the bolts holding the diff to the subframe, I'd assume anyway. What other "subframe bolts" are there?

Both of those would be removed when replacing the diff (assuming they dropped the subframe to remove the diff).
