As others have said, this sums it up very well.
Car vs car on a dyno is pretty much the most useless head to head I can think of. Dynos are good for assessing (some aspects of) a car's drive train on its own - not in a competition.
But think of the safety gains if they put all Formula 1, Indy and Nascar cars on dynos instead of on the pavement!!
