I wouldn't get too wrapped around the axle about the transmission. I was a manual guy for years. Drove numerous LS1 Fbodies, LS2 GTOs/Vettes, STI, Shelby GT500, Audi S4/5; all with manuals.
My car prior to getting the M2 was a 981 Boxster S with PDK. My first automatic ever. What an awesome transmission! I am sure I would have loved the manual too, but PDK killed. The speed of the shifts, whether in auto or manual mode, was crazy.
I traded the Porsche for the M2 with DCT and so far so good. First impressions: PDK is better than DCT; DCT is light years ahead of the ZF8 I have driven in the 335/340.
The DCT is still a lot of fun. Factor that in with the handling, brakes and looks of the M2, and it was a no brainer for me.
