Opinion alert
Unless you're speaking waxes or sealants, the other stuff (detail sprays, polishes, etc) seem to work all the same except for smell. The only things that I have found worth being picky about are interior cleaners (matte finish like oem vs glossy ones) and waxes/sealants for factors such as ease of application and longevity.
