I think the key thing to take away from the VIN numbers, almost everything is going to be an option. So you will be able to price how you like.
The current F87 M2 for the European market can be spec'ed à la carte.

The current F87 M2 for the US market only gets limited choice: body color | M-DCT | Executive Package | moonroof | Apple CarPlay (and early 2016 not even the last two).

The M2 Competition list is long(er) than the current M2 options list (see here).

Time will tell whether, for the 2U73 (F87 M2 Competition for the US market), BMW will stuff virtually all options again in one pack with some fancy name ("Track Package", "CS Package", "CSL 1aB Package", "Xpensive Package", "Whatever Package", "WROON Package" [WeRanOutOfNames Package], etc.) and put an even fancier price-tag on it.

Or maybe two packages: "Executive Package" (similar to the current one) + another pack with those more track-oriented goodies (one-piece seats [option 712], uprated brakes [option 2NH] and Y-spoke wheels [options 2QT or 29U]) ?

Educated guess (2U71 | 2U72 | 2U73):
  • stripper (zero options): outside M3/M4 price-territory;
  • all bells 'n whistles (fully fledged): inside M3/M4 price-territory.
As said before, some in Germany have heard quotes up to EUR12K price-increase for the M2 Competition. So wake up and smell the roses.
