So everything that could go wrong went wrong.
Somehow the door handle got pulled out. To get it back in you need to pull the retainer clip forward and then hold it in place with a screwdriver or pry tool while slotting the handle back in.
turning the screw did not fix my lock problem. CA and the lock itself weren't working. The lock would spazz in its column. Reinstalling with the chamber turned and then doing a turn once installed then going for a drive fixed it for me.
Careful if you make those tabs flush as well because the cover will barely be hanging in there. Almost guarantee to fall out. shave them only a little bit.
