BMW's method of marketing their SAVs is baffling. I can understand the logical partitioning of the portfolio into product families and grouping the SAVs together under the "X" umbrella. But it becomes a mess when you improperly think of them as trim levels within a single model range. This configurator is a good example of what happens when you allow this type of misclassification to run amok. On a typical sized monitor, only the X1 is seen up front while everything else but part of an X3 is hidden away. How is that a good way to showcase the product? The fact is that these vehicles are no more related than the passenger cars are, and each should have their own subsection in the configurator just as each of the passenger car models does.
