Unless the AWD 235 gets a bump in pwr to 330hp/335-340 tq to run to 60 mph in under 4.8 sec, the 235 will be the slow poke. The M3/4 needs a bump to 440-450hp and the M2 needs a solid 380 bhp. A simple tune puts the CLA45 into supercar acceleration territory from 0-60. The tune takes its 0-62 mph from 4.6 to 3.8 sec. (60 mph is 3.65 sec), and 1/4 mi goes down from 12.8@110 to 12.2@114-116 and that's just the stage 1 with 415 hp/395 tq. And if that were not enough, an Audi tuning buddy in FL told me a simple tune on the new S3 takes its 292hp/280tq upto 345hp//330tq. In a 3260-3300 lb sedan, he expects that 4.4 sec 0-60 to come down to a nice 3.6 sec, all for $600, on 91 octane. That's the Audi S3 stg 1... Stg 1.5 is a additional 15 hp/10 tq from a intercooler upgrade & no tune required. The Stg 2 is a small boost increase again, taking hp to 385hp/370tq.... This would put the S3 squarely in GT-R 2.9 sec 0-60 territory. The stg 2 can be installed for less than the price of a $46k M235 which I believe needs a proper name: 235is with M-package. So I'm giving BMW time to boil the ingredients and see what comes out, but that's it. If we can't get the AWD option of the 235 on the M2, I'm making the move to rings.
1320 aside the m235i just walks the CLA45... Add xDrive, and you can make it even worse for the CLA45. Add a tune and this Quasi M Car will do even better. MB is the one that needs to step up the game. They will need to bring a Black Series CLA45 to the table to beat this current car, and the up coming M2 is going to really bring the party to the mix. BTW I completely agree with the naming 235is vs M235i.
