The downsides to the RE71 (you don't want the RE11, they are "last year's model" now) are the noise, shortened treadlife vs. the stock tires, and they won't do as well in rain/standing water.

The rain issue is what I'd be most worried about.

OTOH, they will grip like shit to a blanket in the dry.
Yeah, I missed my bus into downtown and had an early morning meeting. No choice but to drive. Didn't even have time to wait for an Uber. Live and learn.

That being said, they did OK on wet pavement in those low temps. A little sketchy but manageable. It wants till I hit that parking garage with smooth concrete and painted lines everywhere that things let loose.
