I agree - it's less noticeable in the P-car (my 981 didn't have all the buttons, and besides from looking "empty" compared to fully loaded versions, it didn't look like functional buttons had lost their respective pictorial representations).
This is the only true eyesore to me on the car - more so than the kidneys (if you don't like them) or the muffler (which shouldn't be as visible as it is). And that's because you're in the cabin a lot more than you are at the front or rear of it, on the outside.
