Although I wouldn't expect Merino or even Nappa to be offered in the entry level M, they should at least offer Vernasca leather as an option which is a step up from Dakota. The standard seats can remain Dakota due to cost, but since they are going thorough the trouble of offering upgraded seats they should have better leather and that cost would be passed onto the customer. Vernasca leather is not nicer than Merino so it wouldn't step on big brothers toes. Would be a win win, but I guess the bean counters don't see it that way. |
There is no reason Nappa isn't expected. Z4 of last gen has it, 5 series has it and they're not even M cars. M2 is only Dakota worthy what you saying?
It also doesn't make sense M2 offers zero extra tech and luxury over lesser 2ers. Tech and luxury have nothing to do with performance hierarchy, BMW is cheaping out on a popular product (sold out anyway) is what happened.
