Mid MY 2018 (May) is when US market cars are required to have backup camera standard. Every MY 18 car from BMW so far, released or orderable in the system has had camera to comply. Certain other options are separated from expensive packages they used to be in, because they will sell better that way, varies by model. M cars will still have certain features bundled with Exec package that you might not "need", Premium and or Exec packages in other models will have the same... In general, packaging of '18s is more desirable than packaging of '17s, therefore "you'll be happy". Also, because if you're driving an ///M2 and you're not happy, just put your license in a shredder and drive a Segway.
