way back when 'Autoweek' was called 'Competition Press', and it was a tabloid-sized newspaper that arrived at your door every week, and when pickup trucks and family-haulers were never ever mentioned, and all the pictures were in black-and-white, in the back of each issue was the greatest classified section that ever existed. you could shop for an RS61 or a Lotus 23 or an Elva Courier or just dream if you were a 14 y/o kid. which brings me (finally) to the point. there once appeared there my all-time favorite car ad:

1952 Jaguar fixed head coupe. Old English White, blood red hides. disc wheels, spats. No damage, runs great, almost never overheats. Wife says Jag goes or she goes. $1600 either one.

btw: "$1600" was a pretty typical price in those days. Today that same car would fetch $90K easy.
