Wow...thread back from the dead! I thought no one had any interest.
I have had no issues with the supplemental seals. I like the reduction in water on the sill when washing. I don't track the car so can't comment on "running hard" and the venting effect of no seals. Though, it seems unlikely much air enters orthogonally between the front fender and door at speed due to laminar flow. Based on irritating dirtiness, I think the main vents on our cars are over the center of the headlamps.
