Is this crazy hype about the non-comp M2 justified when you can buy a 2022 vehicle, faster and with way better tech for the same money? (uglier though)
I feel hard to justify 45K for 5 year old cars.
At least in Canada, a lightly optioned M240i is easily over $10K more than an OG M2 and is in 2020 M2C territory. Also, my wife and I still prefer a manual car which is not available in the M240i (I actually like the look of them - they kept the wide hips of the M2 - and the option of something other than black for interior is a bonus). That said, I guess there is still an aura around the "real" M cars which helps with desirability (and resale)? Time will tell...
Agree with both the aura of a true M car AND manual transmission.

M-lite cars are tremendous examples, and while the ZF8 speed is fantastic, the analog feel of rowing gears is what drove me to an M2 versus a new M240i.

Yes, the new M240i exceeds a lot of what an OG M2 provides. It's all what you value.
