My car is a March 2017 build. No break in indicator. Indicates service in 10,000 miles. I don't think anything in the manual refers to a service either. Perhaps BMW changed the requirement.

My May 17 build counts down to service for the break-in... Go to 'notifications' in iDrive and it should be there... I did code to idrive 6 light though.
More so in the electronic owners manual that I just downloaded for my car on the BMW Driver's Guide iPhone app, clearly states "Breaking-in period" which goes on to indeed tell you 1200 miles.
