And if you are going to resell your car later on a private party basis, do figure out how much your time is worth, and deduct that from any extra cash you get vs. just trading the car in.
Even if you are thinking you will keep the car until the wheels come off, do you really think that you are going to have a pristine car when it is 6 or 8 years old, and has 75,000 miles on it? You could do some serious panel repainting years from now, for the cost of "protecting" your paint.
Go buy some paint sealant, keep your car clean and apply sealant every few months, when it needs it.
