I’m not an expert but the folks at Essex are and they talk about both the number of vanes and the shape to help increase air flow. The oem are really a perfect match for the 98 percent that use their car on public roads and do some spirited driving, they are even fine for a fair amount of track driving but when they come up for replacement those that track are probably best served with one of the aftermarket options. On the road you might get 300 degree temps if you really brake hard and that is for a short period, on track this weekend my rotor temps were over 650 for 20 mins, of course that is using track pads don’t know the actual temp because my temp gun maxes at 650.
