correct. you could ask your detailer to check the paint for you with a paint meter. from there you both can keep a record of how much is left. typically we check paint for customers and tell them how much we can do for them. I stop correcting paint at about 69-71 microns.

If you coat the car and it swirls you can spot polish the areas that are of concern. That being said you can compound or polish off your coating, and eventually into your clear coat /paint.
