I agree with pruettfan. If you make it about economics, it is tough because no one really knows and there are so many variables... depreciation, warranty/reliability costs, operating costs, etc, etc.

I have owned both cars (2 E92 M3's and the M2). I would have a hard time going back to the E92. Not because the E92 isn't an amazing car... because it is... but because it is old technology, a dated interior and the M2 feels far more torquey around the city. Once you get use to instant torque, it is addictive. The M2 is a faster track car than the E92 M3, as fast in a straight line, handles better (arguably) and is 2016 technology. It also has a warranty if that matters.

To me, if I ignored the economics (because there are so many variables, if's, and's and but's) and picked what is, IMO, the most fun car then I would pick the M2 again. Everyone is different but that's where I'd be.
