Not really, you can fly there on points or find a cheap round trip ticket (850) go pick up the car, drive it around for a day and drop it back off and fly back. Some people plan it with a business trip to Europe and just take a short side trip to take delivery of the car.
If you decide you want to make a trip of it then a large part of the trip is paid for with the ED discount. I just did that on a 2016 M3, it was a blast but I was due for a vacation anyway.
