Also sounds like most of you jacked the car up and removed the wheel to do this, i have a hydraulic jack to use but did you use axle stands also, if so is there a recommended spot to place the stand?

didn't use the supplied foam pad.
always use jack stands when the car needs to be lifted for extended work. the car's balance allows you to lift the car up from the front to put the jack stands at the rear lift point
