The "perfect business sense" is to deliberately degrade the car, fit N55 engine. And delete M -Minor, M-seat, M buttons and so on.
Because even with this down grade, it still makes M2 a decent car. So it leaves room for new generation to come without scraching their head too hard.
No idea what you are trying to say. The business model for the M2 is as follows:

BMW markets the M2 as a loss leader. An excellent product that makes very little profit for the dealers. This motivates the dealer to sell a vehicle that is in stock and that makes higher margins. The M235/240, the M3 and the M4 are all vehicles that dealer sales reps try to sell
customers up or down to.

The M2 is usually not available on the lot ( other than perhaps a demo) which is standard operating procedure for a loss leader.

The M3 and M4 have items that many buyers want.. s55 , "M mirrors ", "M seats" , nicer leather , nicer looking carbon fiber. CF roof
A larger color palette of standard colors ,
Bmw individual is available. Etc etc.

M3 and M4 and M240 are all usually available on the lot or can be purchased and received sooner than M2.

Combine the the Leasing options and price discounts for the M3/M4 which are readily available and most buyers F off and buy an M3/M4 which is what BMW NA/AG wants.

Nominal improvements to the M2 will keep the sizzle going and customers will continue to come in to stores, be disappointed by the lack of availability , and will often switch to the M3 and M4.
