MDM, activated by a single press of dsc off button, is a standalone mode. It is not something "attached" to comfort/sport/sport+. The same thing can be said to DSC off mode (long press dsc off button).
Basically m2 has 5 modes available. Below chart from m2 training document explain the characteristics in each of them.
