Don't worry, forum fellows. I never experienced it affecting the driving behavior of the car. So it's OK, except for the nuisance of that occasional rambling, screechy metallic noise - that's all.
My CA checked and confirmed that my car is not scheduled for a rear diff upgrade (yet). I guess it's only a matter of time before I'll get the replacement news. Almost 12K kms clocked in the meantime and my rear diff is still performing properly (apart from making those occasional 'grumpy' noises).
