An M2 will do fine with a proper set of Nokian winter tires.
M cars are great in the snow because of the limited slip diff. Ground clearance will be the biggest challenge, but AWD isn't as necessary as a lot of people have ben led to believe by marketing and sales people trying to make a few extra bucks.
