an m car should have an engine that can hold up to repeated track abuse. the n55 has major cooling issues and it does not hold up to hard driving. I have experienced this many times.
I don't know what bmw is doing to upgrade the n55 for the m2, but based on past experience, i definitely wouldnt want one in a track car.

??? My 135is N55 has never had a problem at the track. Never been in limp mode including in 90+ degree humid days. 30 minute sessions times 7 per day. Maybe its the auxiliary radiator that came with the 'is'. I wish I could say the same of the brakes and the tires. I ended up going to a BBK kit - problem solved. 245/35 MPSS is the largest I can fit and they are literally melting from the abuse. I wish I could get an RE11 in that size.
Back on topic. No issues for me on an N55 based M2. I'm first on the list at my local dealer with $1K down.
